Accepting everybody

Every person you meet has something special to give you that is, if you are open to receiving it. Everybody can be described as weird or strange in some way. You know who I am talking about. Everyone has that weird neighbor, who you can’t figure out, or that strange relative that seems to make bad decisions, or the co-worker that says some of the strangest things, or that kid in school who has few social skills. When you picture these people in your mind, how do you feel toward them? Do you enjoy knowing them by letting them be who they are, or do you get frustrated or even angry because of the person they are? Accepting everyone in this world today is not a common thing you see. People judge on a daily basis and they never seem to ask why they are saying that stuff about a certain person, they just are. But the real question is why? Why judge people and not accept them for who they are. Just because someone isn’t just like you doesn’t mean there weird just mean they’re different from you. I try my best to accept everyone for who they are but I sometimes catch myself taking or listening to others about what they have to say about that person and it seems to change my mind, and we all know we shouldn’t base how we feel off other peoples opinions. Accepting everyone for how they look, what they wear, the style they like, or the music they listen to. Why do we let those things change how we feel about people? There is no answer and if there is not an answer to something more then likely it is not the right thing to do. Accept others; let people be who they want to be without feeling judged by the people around them.

A New Face for Schools P.57

Technology is becoming a big thing in the world today and I do not think it is a bad thing. Technology today is not just social media like people think it is and is also not just teens using it. Technology yes includes social media but also websites like eBay, amazon, YouTube, and even blackboard. Without the technology we have today we wouldn’t be able to do more then half of the things we do in the world. Could social networking mean school improvements? Could Facebook and other social media be the 21st century purposeful student community designed for school improvements. I do think social media could improve students intelligents. By doing things online like I am right now students tend to know more about what they are doing and makes them feel good about it. I do almost all of my homework, essays, reading, etc. online without this thing such as technology none of that could happen. Ever since I have been in college I have not used one notebook or folder, it is all technology based. When you are assigned a group project one of the best things you could have is technology. Texting, Facebook messaging, or a group email that is what we all do to keep in touch with our group members for the project. Technology is a great thing for everyone today I think. Like I said before without it we would not be able to do nearly anything we do today.

Community College is the best choice.

A Community College like ICC is the best choice any one starting college could make. Going to a community college does not mean you are not smart or you could not get into a certain college you wanted to, all it means is that’s where you want to go. Community colleges have a great amount of opportunities just like any other university. One of the main reasons I think a lot of people start off at a community college including myself is because of the money aspect. Why go to a university right off the bat paying thousands when going to a community college and getting the same education can be so much cheaper. People always think it will look bad or they will get made fun of. A lot of smart people and people who have achieved a lot have come out of community college. When you eventually graduate college they do not look at where you started they look at where you graduated. Community colleges are so beneficial in so many ways people do no look at. I wanted to start off my college career at the University of Tennessee paying $30,000 a year and that’s just ridiculous. This is my first year here at ICC and I love it. I am taking the same classes every other freshman at any other university is taking and I have spent a total of $3,000. Just remember to think of all your options when starting off your college search. Thinking towards the future and not just today was a big help for my choice.

Is Social Networking a Waste of Time. Pg 68.

I do not think social networking is a waste of time at all. Yes people including myself get on it way too much during the day but that is only hurting us. When they talk about students being on it during the school day or during a lecture that is there own responsibility. They are there to learn but if they want to take the risk of being on social media all day and not get anything out of the school day that is there choice not the teachers. It is only affecting them and no one else. Having a twitter or a Facebook is nowhere near a waste of time. It is a place to connect with friends and family and that is what most of today's population uses it for. I feel like when people including teachers or a school board member talks about social media it is always directed to the kids. If you think about it a lot of parents and school board members themselves are on social media daily also. When talking about this so to be "problem" why only direct it to the 13 to17 year old  range of kids. Nine out of every ten people who have a smart phone or a computer have a social media site that they tend to check every so often. Towards the end of the reading it talks about how with social media the good outweighs the bad and in some cases it can help out creativity. Just think if there was no such thing as social networking I couldn't do half the things I do in school today such as submitting a paper, getting assignments online, and viewing notes from classes. I think social media is a great thing we have and the bigger it gets more power to us.
