Gridiron Sport: Cheerleading is a Sport Article

It states that competitive cheerleading is by far nothing like your grandmothers past time anymore. I do consider cheerleading a sport it being a part of my life for more then 12 years but even if I was not apart of the all-star organization just watching teams and seeing what we all do cheerleading would still be considered a sport in my head. Competitive Cheerleading is a very physical activity with a lot of time, money, dedication, and hard ache all at the same time that gets put into it. With being in this sport the article states the court determined that four factors were important in making their decision in making this law pass of making cheerleading a sport. The first one is a defendant must be participating in a recreational activity. The second one is that recreation activity must include physical contact between persons. Third, the person must be participating in a sport, and the last one is the sport must involve amateur teams, and yet still it has not passed the law that competitive cheerleading is a sport even though it does consists of all these four factors. Despite the difficulty and arguments in reaching the goal of having cheerleading be considered a sport the court in Noffke felt, that the fact that cheerleading was not an organizational sport world wide they could not go against millions and think they would win. The last couple pages states of how it is know different then any other sport out there. The rules and regulations, the money, the dedication, and lastly being a team and competing against one another they are all the same. Eventually making competitive cheerleading a sport will not be an easy process for example how it has been the past couple of years, but, it does say as the years go on and it keeps getting harder and more popular there is no doubt in Jon Heshka and Kris Lines mind that it will be considered a sport one day.

I do not think we should have quizzes in lab and also lecture for biology

Being in a biology class consists of you also taking a lab for two hours outside of the actual biology lecture. Being in lab is fun and interesting when doing experiments and actually learning more about what you are talking about in lab,  it help you understand it more when doing thing by hand rather than just talking about them in lecture I think. In biology 110 we have quizzes every week and also test that go along with the lecture and in lab we have a quiz every class also which I do not think is needed. When in lab I love doing the experiments and all that fun stuff but when it comes to the quizzes I feel like that should only be required in lecture. Lab should be fun and just helping you more with the lecture class and for the quizzes and test in there not so you stress out for lab and also biology both. I do not think we need to have test and quizzes in lab since we do in biology which is what the lecture should be consisting of which is does but not lab also. I also think having quizzes in lab and not just in lecture could mess you up by the way you learn stuff. Not everyone has the same teacher for lecture and lab like me so getting taught a different way and trying to take a quiz is hard and makes things more confusing and more difficult to learn.

Life after Dealth

In the movie and book Life after Death these three teen age boys get accused of murdering these three little boys one summer night. When the little boys were found the day after the cops, community, and judge went straight to these three teen boys who ran the streets. The court got involved and of course just accused those three teenage boys right off the bat no questioned asked. Eventually they had questioning but the three boys never really got to answer or tell there own side of the story. I think when someone is accused of anything it being a murder or something not so big always question and always think of other possibilities. When questioning no one else when a big event happens of course the only people who you are questioning and have an idea of are the ones you are going to accuse. I do not think it is fair in any case when they do not know for a fact who was involved, and if it was the other way around those officers and judges probably wouldn't like that either. Why would someone want to put someone in jail for years and ruin there lives when not knowing for sure if they committed the crime. Also locking people up for there wrong doing also makes the town or community safe because they are no longer running around doing these awful things, but when locking up the wrong person, the criminal is still out there and the people who are locked up are there for no apparent reason.

Eating Right

Eating right is a huge down fall I have started to see in society today. Eating right can help you with so much more then what people think. Not just to stay skinny or to be able to fit into those jeans you bought last year but just for over all good health. Eating healthy will help you live longer. There are many ways to obtain a balance. One thing to remember is that every single person is different so there fore different things will work different ways on certain people. There are few guidelines that you can follow to put you in the right direction for staying health. Choose foods low in fat, eat plenty of vegetables, use sugar as little as possible, and also remember to keep your sodium levels down. While trying to eat health proper intake of vitamins and minerals is just as importunes. Although minerals do many functions in the body, the major role is to help regulate your the functions. Why would someone choose to be not healthy over being healthy knowing all the things it can benefit. Being healthy does a lot for your body. It helps your everyday life that people do not look into. You feel so much better about yourself from the time you wake up till the time you go to bed. Having that energied feeling can never be a bad thing so why not have it everyday just by eating the right foods. I think it is very important for you to be healthy for your own good and living a good life.

An Article, The Statue of Liberty

The Statue of liberty national monument is unique in that is does not commemorate a particular historic even or personage but rather celebrates a set of ideas. Two small islands located side by side in New York harbor contain the Statue of Liberty National Monument. On liberty Island stands the colossal statue, which the French people gave as a gift to the United States for its one hundredth birthday. With in the base of the statue is the American Museum of Immigration, containing exhibits depicting the course of immigration to this national and the resulting cultural heterogeneity of its population. Lizzie Susan says from the article "we will not forget that Liberty has here made her home nor shall her chosen alter be neglected." Knowing the background of things before you go and see them makes a whole experience different. It is important to know the important things behind this beautiful statue. Not knowing the background of something so big and special to a lot of people and going to see it I think will give you a whole other perspective when the days over then it would if you were to know a little about what your going to see. The Statue of Liberty being such a huge and popular place for people to visit knowing the background is an important thing I think everyone should know before going and then learn more while your there. Just think of going to a monument  so special like the Statue of Liberty and not knowing much and getting there and not getting the full experience it just wouldn't be the same but when knowing some historical things about it makes the trip that much more worth it.

Why we should workout daily

I've always enjoyed working out ever since I started working out I kind of just stuck with it. Working out is a huge thing in my life and should be in many others.  "Just do it" has always inspired me while working out, by motivating me to continue on. Working out has changed me physically and mentally. Even though a lot of people make too many excuses for not working out everyone should. It not only keeps your body healthy by activity, but also allows one to maintain a healthier life style. Working out can do a lot for a person that they do not tend to notice. The main things are body image and weight lose and people think thats all working out if for but they don't know that they are wrong. Working out yes can help those two things but also confidence and self esteem is a huge thing working out consists of. Looking good and being okay with how you look effects people in there everyday lives that they try to hide and let people not see. Just a 20 to 30 minute workout each day or even a couple days a week is better then nothing. Just because you are not working out for hours like many others or even in a gym doesn't mean you are not getting the physical activity you need to stay healthy. I know a lot of people who work out everyday with no gym membership and they look and feel great about themselves. Not going to the gym and not having a massive long and hard workout doesn't mean anything. Everyone is different and everyone works out at there own speed and level of workout. Just remember a little walk around the block is better then nothing. Everyone should have a motive to do some type of physical actively at least for 30 minutes a day.

U.S. Population Hits 300 Million p. 218

Three hundred million people in the United States is a lot I would say. Having these people not only be American I think is cool and an okay situation because it will bring people of other race closer and no longer have the racism we have today. Having the united states not be able to reach this goal unless people from those other country’s came here gives us a sense to respect them because we only as American could not of made this happen today if it were not for the people coming here from the other counties. America has evolved throughout its history and migration has been a good thing because of assimilation. We all come together to redefine ourselves in every generation, and that’s been the strength of our country. One third of America’s population will make up 40 percent of the U.S population in the next decade. Non-Hispanic whites are now a minority in Hawaii, New Mexico, Texas, California, and the District of Columbia. The downfall Americans are seeing today is that the immigrants are coming into America to fast or maybe they are not being assimilated fast enough. So many Americans have experienced running into the immigrants that have came over here to the United States and them not being able to speak English. It scares them in the way of not everyone is able to communicate in the English speaking language how are we supposed to be a together society in the long term of them being there.

Accepting everybody

Every person you meet has something special to give you that is, if you are open to receiving it. Everybody can be described as weird or strange in some way. You know who I am talking about. Everyone has that weird neighbor, who you can’t figure out, or that strange relative that seems to make bad decisions, or the co-worker that says some of the strangest things, or that kid in school who has few social skills. When you picture these people in your mind, how do you feel toward them? Do you enjoy knowing them by letting them be who they are, or do you get frustrated or even angry because of the person they are? Accepting everyone in this world today is not a common thing you see. People judge on a daily basis and they never seem to ask why they are saying that stuff about a certain person, they just are. But the real question is why? Why judge people and not accept them for who they are. Just because someone isn’t just like you doesn’t mean there weird just mean they’re different from you. I try my best to accept everyone for who they are but I sometimes catch myself taking or listening to others about what they have to say about that person and it seems to change my mind, and we all know we shouldn’t base how we feel off other peoples opinions. Accepting everyone for how they look, what they wear, the style they like, or the music they listen to. Why do we let those things change how we feel about people? There is no answer and if there is not an answer to something more then likely it is not the right thing to do. Accept others; let people be who they want to be without feeling judged by the people around them.

A New Face for Schools P.57

Technology is becoming a big thing in the world today and I do not think it is a bad thing. Technology today is not just social media like people think it is and is also not just teens using it. Technology yes includes social media but also websites like eBay, amazon, YouTube, and even blackboard. Without the technology we have today we wouldn’t be able to do more then half of the things we do in the world. Could social networking mean school improvements? Could Facebook and other social media be the 21st century purposeful student community designed for school improvements. I do think social media could improve students intelligents. By doing things online like I am right now students tend to know more about what they are doing and makes them feel good about it. I do almost all of my homework, essays, reading, etc. online without this thing such as technology none of that could happen. Ever since I have been in college I have not used one notebook or folder, it is all technology based. When you are assigned a group project one of the best things you could have is technology. Texting, Facebook messaging, or a group email that is what we all do to keep in touch with our group members for the project. Technology is a great thing for everyone today I think. Like I said before without it we would not be able to do nearly anything we do today.

Community College is the best choice.

A Community College like ICC is the best choice any one starting college could make. Going to a community college does not mean you are not smart or you could not get into a certain college you wanted to, all it means is that’s where you want to go. Community colleges have a great amount of opportunities just like any other university. One of the main reasons I think a lot of people start off at a community college including myself is because of the money aspect. Why go to a university right off the bat paying thousands when going to a community college and getting the same education can be so much cheaper. People always think it will look bad or they will get made fun of. A lot of smart people and people who have achieved a lot have come out of community college. When you eventually graduate college they do not look at where you started they look at where you graduated. Community colleges are so beneficial in so many ways people do no look at. I wanted to start off my college career at the University of Tennessee paying $30,000 a year and that’s just ridiculous. This is my first year here at ICC and I love it. I am taking the same classes every other freshman at any other university is taking and I have spent a total of $3,000. Just remember to think of all your options when starting off your college search. Thinking towards the future and not just today was a big help for my choice.

Is Social Networking a Waste of Time. Pg 68.

I do not think social networking is a waste of time at all. Yes people including myself get on it way too much during the day but that is only hurting us. When they talk about students being on it during the school day or during a lecture that is there own responsibility. They are there to learn but if they want to take the risk of being on social media all day and not get anything out of the school day that is there choice not the teachers. It is only affecting them and no one else. Having a twitter or a Facebook is nowhere near a waste of time. It is a place to connect with friends and family and that is what most of today's population uses it for. I feel like when people including teachers or a school board member talks about social media it is always directed to the kids. If you think about it a lot of parents and school board members themselves are on social media daily also. When talking about this so to be "problem" why only direct it to the 13 to17 year old  range of kids. Nine out of every ten people who have a smart phone or a computer have a social media site that they tend to check every so often. Towards the end of the reading it talks about how with social media the good outweighs the bad and in some cases it can help out creativity. Just think if there was no such thing as social networking I couldn't do half the things I do in school today such as submitting a paper, getting assignments online, and viewing notes from classes. I think social media is a great thing we have and the bigger it gets more power to us.

Competitive Cheerleading is a Sport!

Every cheerleader gets fired up when someone tries to argue with them that cheerleading is not a sport. Whether it’s a football player in one of your classes, a teacher who talks down about cheerleading, or a friend who doesn't understand why you’re not involved in something else “more athletic,” you want people to know that being a cheerleader does make you an athlete! Competitive Cheerleading is a sport in my eye and has been for 12 years now, but in a lot of others it is nothing but a hobby. Cheerleading takes the time, effort, team support, and money every other team sport takes. I did Competitive Cheerleading for 12 years and it was all I did for those 12 years. The practices, the traveling, and the competitions was a great deal of my time. From the article Cheerleading is a sport it says “Competitive Cheerleading is said to be the most dangerous sport in the world.” I want to know what makes cheerleading so different from any other sport out there and why people have such a strong belief that is it not considered a sport. We tumble standing and running, stunt, dance, and jump. The 2 minute and 30 second routine do look easy just like throwing a football looks easy but we both know they are quite hard. We interpret 5 different skills into one big routine with remembering the whole thing move by move. From the article Cheerleading gets tough it says “If you think Cheerleading is for sissies your wrong. The hard work and dedications is like no other. If you think anyone can do it I would like to see you try.
